When your business uses natural gas to provide warm and comfortable space heat, prepare delicious food, heat water, or be used as part of a commercial application, some greenhouse gases (GHG) are added to the environment. Our Greener Life for Business program will help protect the environment by offsetting those greenhouse gases to make your business’ natural gas usage carbon neutral.
Greener Life for Business is an additional service we offer that helps businesses like yours do their part for the environment with the addition of a nominal fee to your price of natural gas. When you add Greener Life for Business to your service, we will utilize an EPA developed calculator to determine the amount of GHG your natural gas releases into the atmosphere and will purchase and retire carbon offsets to balance the impact of those emissions. Also, since you are purchasing this service, retiring a carbon offset on your behalf means that only YOUR business can claim the environmental benefit from that offset!
Green-e Climate is an independent certification program for greenhouse gas emission reductions (carbon offsets) sold in the voluntary market. The Green-e Climate logo identifies carbon offsets that meet the program's high environmental and consumer-protection standards. The greenhouse gas emissions being offset by this service are those associated with the combustion of natural gas at the point of consumption only, and do not include lifecycle emissions that occur during extraction, production, or delivery.
